In September 2020, my 30-watt fiber laser marker once had a problem, and the laser didn’t shine, after I reported the problem to the factory, their after-sales staff linked to my team viewer within five minutes and remotely controlled my computer, which was detected to be laser damaged, they reissued the new laser to me through DHL within a week. In the video, this shipbuilding component has a plate thickness of 50 mm and requires welds with a 32 mm leg length. Next, let’s take a look at how this intelligent welding system completes this task.
First, a worker hoists the component into position beneath the robot. The operator simply clicks "Reverse Modeling" on the computer, and the robot begins a line scan of the component. Within seconds, a 3D point cloud model is automatically generated. The process system then automatically identifies the weld seams and calculates the welding paths based on the component data. Subsequently, the operator selects the corresponding 32 mm leg length welding procedure package, and the equipment initiates automatic welding. Under normal circumstances, the entire process is completed efficiently.
For the 11 welding passes required for a single weld seam, the system can originally generate the paths and complete the welding in one continuous run. However, for a large 50 mm thick shipbuilding component, continuous welding of a single seam causes concentrated heat input from the 11 passes, which can easily lead to significant welding distortion. Therefore, we have re-optimized the welding method based on actual site conditions.
Watch how this works: After the robot completes the scan of the first weld seam, the 11 welding paths are automatically generated. After completing three passes, the operator pauses the current program and switches to scanning the next weld seam. Once three passes are completed there, the robot automatically returns to the previous seam to continue the remaining three passes. Throughout this process, previously scanned seams do not need to be scanned again; the system directly calls the previously generated welding data to complete the subsequent welding.
By adopting this alternating multi-seam welding approach, we effectively reduce the concentrated heat input caused by continuous welding, solving the problem of welding distortion in large components, while also minimizing the operator's time spent on frequent re-modeling. ... See MoreSee Less
